TGPRB has issued the detailed recruitment notifications on 29 July 2026 for a total of 7,437 vacancies across the Police, Fire & Emergency, Prisons and Special Protection Force departments, following the press note dated 5 July 2026 (Rc. No. 189/Rect./Rect-1/2026) in which the State Government accorded permission to fill these posts.
The online application window closed on 16 September 2026 (5 PM), after a one-week extension from the original 9 September closing date. At the time of the extension, TGPRB reported over 3.38 lakh candidates registered and more than 2.88 lakh having paid the fee. The Preliminary Written Test for PC-level posts is tentatively scheduled for 20 December 2026; hall tickets will be released on tgprb.in.
The notifications group the posts as “Civil and/or Equivalent”, so the PC notification covers AR, SAR CPL, Fire Fighter, Warder and SPF constable posts as well. The department-wise split is below.

Recruitment for Police Constable is carried out in the stages below, as per the TGPRB notification. Candidates must clear each stage to move to the next. Both written stages are objective type with 200 questions each. TGPRB has not published an official subject-wise question distribution for these tests — the subject-wise practice tests further down this page are CompeteBits' own 20-question practice format and are separate from the official exam.

As per the 2026 notification, the Preliminary Written Test is one 3-hour paper of 200 marks. Minimum qualifying marks in the PWT are 30% for OCs (including EWS), 25% for BCs and 20% for SCs / STs / Ex-Servicemen / Home Guards, and 20% of the marks for a question are deducted for each wrong answer. Questions are set in English–Telugu and English–Urdu.

For this recruitment the upper age limit for PC-level posts is raised by a further 10 years (5 under GO Ms No. 87, 2 under GO Ms No. 122 and 3 under GO Ms No. 129); for SCT PC (Driver) the relaxation is 7 years.
