TS Police SI Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Written Test (qualifying) – One 3-hour objective paper of 200 marks. Minimum qualifying marks: 30% for OCs (including EWS), 25% for BCs and 20% for SCs / STs / ex-servicemen. Its marks are not used for the final merit.
  2. Physical Measurement & Physical Efficiency Tests – Height, long jump and shot put are qualifying. The 1600 m / 800 m run is qualifying for SI (Civil), Station Fire Officer and Deputy Jailor, but is scored for RSI (AR, SAR CPL, TGSP) and SPF SI, and those marks count towards their merit.
  3. Final Written Examination – Four 3-hour papers. Papers I (English) and II (Telugu / Urdu) are qualifying only; Papers III and IV decide the merit. Minimum qualifying marks in each paper: 40% for OCs (including EWS), 35% for BCs and 30% for SCs / STs / ex-servicemen.
  4. Final merit – SI (Civil), Station Fire Officer and Deputy Jailor: aggregate of Papers III and IV. RSI (AR, SAR CPL, TGSP) and SPF SI: Papers III and IV plus the run marks (normalised between men and women where the notification says so).
  5. Certificate verification and medical examination – Original certificates are verified and selected candidates must meet the medical standards in the notification.
