TS Police Constable Examination Syllabus

TGPRB recruits Police Constables and equivalent posts — PC (Civil), PC (AR), PC (SAR CPL), SPF Constable, Fire Fighter and Warder — through a Preliminary Written Test, physical tests and a Final Written Examination.

TS Police Constable Selection Process

1. Preliminary Written Test (qualifying) – One 3-hour objective paper of 200 questions for 200 marks. Minimum qualifying marks: 30% for OCs (including EWS), 25% for BCs and 20% for SCs / STs / ex-servicemen / Home Guards.
2. Physical Measurement & Physical Efficiency Tests – Height, long jump and shot put are qualifying. The 1600 m / 800 m run is qualifying for PC (Civil), Fire Fighter and Warder, but is scored for PC (AR), PC (SAR CPL) and SPF Constable, and those marks count towards their merit.
3. Final Written Examination – One 3-hour objective paper of 200 questions: 200 marks for PC (Civil), Fire Fighter and Warder, 100 marks for PC (AR), PC (SAR CPL) and SPF Constable. Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for OCs (including EWS), 35% for BCs and 30% for SCs / STs / ex-servicemen.
4. Final merit – PC (Civil), Fire Fighter and Warder: Final Written Examination marks. PC (AR), PC (SAR CPL) and SPF Constable: Final Written Examination plus run marks (normalised between men and women for PC (AR) and SPF Constable).
5. Certificate verification and medical examination – Original certificates are verified and selected candidates must meet the medical standards in the notification.

A wrong answer, or more than one bubble marked, carries a negative mark of 20% of the marks for that question; an unanswered question scores zero.

Long jump and shot put are qualifying only. The run is qualifying for PC (Civil), Fire Fighter and Warder, and carries marks for PC (AR), PC (SAR CPL) and SPF Constable. Men's events apply to men's posts and women's events to the posts open to women.

Prelims & Final: Problems on number system, interest, ratio and proportion, average, percentage, profit and loss, time and work, work and wages, time and distance, clocks and calendars, partnership and mensuration (SSC standard).

General Science

Prelims & Final: Contemporary developments in science and technology, everyday observation and experience, and environmental protection, at the level of a well-educated person.

History of India & Indian National Movement

Prelims & Final: Broad, general understanding of Indian history in its social, economic, cultural and political aspects, and the Indian National Movement.

Geography of India

Prelims & Final: Physical, social and economic geography of India.

Indian Polity & Economy

Prelims & Final: The country's political system, rural development, planning and economic reforms in India.

Current Events

Prelims & Final: Current events of national and international importance.

Test of Reasoning / Mental Ability

Prelims & Final: Verbal and non-verbal questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualisation and orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making and visual memory.
