APPSC Assistant Director (Forensic Engineering / Physics / Chemistry / Biology) Recruitment 2026 – Notification No.11/2026

The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has released Brief Notification No.11/2026 dated 15 September 2026 for Direct Recruitment to the post of Assistant Director (Forensic Engineering / Physics / Chemistry / Biology) in A.P. State Forensic Science Laboratory Service (General Recruitment).

Online applications: 6 October 2026 to 27 October 2026, up to 11:59 PM, through the Commission's website (psc.ap.gov.in).

  • Assistant Director, Forensic Engineering: 1 vacancy (Carried Forward) — Pay Scale Rs 57,100 – 1,47,760
  • Assistant Director, Physics: 2 vacancies — Pay Scale Rs 57,100 – 1,47,760
  • Assistant Director, Chemistry: 2 vacancies — Pay Scale Rs 57,100 – 1,47,760
  • Assistant Director, Biology: 3 vacancies — Pay Scale Rs 57,100 – 1,47,760

Total: 8 vacancies (07 + 01 Carried Forward). Vacancies are provisional and subject to variation on confirmation from the concerned department. Age, community-wise breakup and other details will be published in the Detailed Notification, available on or before 6 October 2026 on the Commission's website — the date of the Detailed Notification is the crucial date for all eligibility purposes.

Educational Qualification (as on the date of the Detailed Notification):

  • Forensic Engineering: B.E. in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, or its equivalent (B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Production Engineering)
  • Physics: M.Sc. in First or Second Class in Physics, or an equivalent qualification (Tech. Physics, Material Science, Nuclear Physics, Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Applied Physics, Instrumentation, Integrated M.Sc. Physics, Geo Physics, Nano Science/Technology, or Electronic Communications)
  • Chemistry: M.Sc. in First or Second Class in Chemistry, or an equivalent qualification, or B.Sc. with A.I.C. by examination in Forensic Sciences
  • Biology: M.Sc. in First or Second Class in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology or Biochemistry, or an equivalent (Bio-Technology, Genetics, Forensic Science), or a Degree in Medicine with a Bachelor's Degree in Science (Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics)

All specializations additionally require: exceptionally good eyesight (colour blindness is a disqualification), and at least 5 years of practical experience in a Forensic Science, Chemistry, Analytical or Police Laboratory (relevant-field experience is desirable).

Selection Process: A single-level online (CBRT) examination — no separate Screening Test — specific to each specialization, followed by a Computer Proficiency Test for qualifying candidates.

  • Each specialization: Paper I — General Studies & Mental Ability (150 questions, 150 minutes, 150 marks) and Paper II — the relevant subject for that specialization (150 questions, 150 minutes, 300 marks)

Total: 450 marks per specialization.
