Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was formally launched in West Bengal on 16 August 2026, offering health cover of up to Rs 5 lakh a year. The rollout covers citizens above 70 years of age, with roughly 35 lakh elderly beneficiaries eligible in the state.
