Notification Details

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Ministry of Railways, have notified 590 vacancies in nine paramedical posts under CEN 05/2026 (Paramedical Categories). Selection is through a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by document verification and medical examination.

Posts, vacancies, pay and age limit (age as on 01.01.2027)

  • Nursing Superintendent – 365 posts · Level 7 (Rs. 44,900) · 20–40 years · Registered Nurse and Midwife with 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course, or B.Sc Nursing
  • Pharmacist (Entry Grade) – 118 posts · Level 5 (Rs. 29,200) · 20–35 years · B.Pharm (Allopathic) or Pharm.D, registered as Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948
  • Health & Malaria Inspector Gr. II – 43 posts · Level 6 (Rs. 35,400) · 18–33 years · B.Sc with Chemistry plus a one-year Health/Sanitary Inspector diploma or NTC in Health Sanitary Inspector
  • Lab Assistant Gr. II – 31 posts · Level 3 (Rs. 21,700) · 18–33 years · 12th (Science) plus DMLT or an equivalent certificate course of at least one year; B.Sc Medical Lab Technology after 12th Science is also accepted
  • Radiographer X-Ray Technician – 25 posts · Level 5 (Rs. 29,200) · 19–33 years · 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry plus a 2-year diploma in Radiography / X-Ray Technician / Radiodiagnosis Technology (listed B.Sc equivalents accepted)
  • ECG Technician – 4 posts · Level 4 (Rs. 25,500) · 18–33 years · 10+2 / Science graduation with a certificate, diploma or degree (minimum one year) in ECG Laboratory Technology / Cardiology
  • Optometrist – 2 posts · Level 4 (Rs. 25,500) · 18–33 years · B.Sc Optometry or a 3 to 4 year Ophthalmic Technician diploma, with registration with the concerned council
  • Dialysis Technician – 1 post · Level 6 (Rs. 35,400) · 20–33 years · B.Sc plus a Haemodialysis diploma or two years' in-house training/experience (B.Sc Dialysis / Renal Dialysis Technology accepted)
  • Audiologist & Speech Therapist – 1 post · Level 6 (Rs. 35,400) · 21–30 years · BASLP with Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) registration

Refer to the official notification for post-wise educational qualification and eligibility requirements, including medical standards and suitability for PwBD candidates. The qualification must be held by 14.10.2026; candidates awaiting final results should not apply. RRB-wise vacancies are in Annexure B.

Age relaxation (upper age limit): SC/ST 5 years, OBC (NCL) 3 years, PwBD 10 / 13 / 15 years (UR-EWS / OBC / SC-ST); ex-servicemen, serving railway staff, widowed/divorced women and other categories as per para 5.2 of the notification. Relaxation is not cumulative.

Application fee (online payment only): Rs. 500 for all candidates, of which Rs. 400 is refunded (less bank charges) on appearing in the CBT; Rs. 250 for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minority and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates, refunded (less bank charges) on appearing in the CBT. Refunds are paid only to candidates who attend the CBT, and only to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account; no refund for incomplete or rejected applications.

CBT pattern: 100 objective questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates using a scribe) — Professional ability 70, General Awareness 10, General Arithmetic, General Intelligence & Reasoning 10, General Science 10 (indicative split). Negative marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks: UR/EWS 40%, OBC (NCL) and SC 30%, ST 25%.
