BRICS environment ministers oppose EU carbon border tax

BRICS environment ministers adopted a Joint Ministerial Statement in New Delhi on 18 August 2026 opposing the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The grouping described such unilateral trade measures as discriminatory against developing economies.
