Meghalaya opens Centre of Excellence for Eri silk weaving

A Centre of Excellence for Eri silk weaving was inaugurated on 14 August 2026 at the Integrated Textile Tourism Complex in Meghalaya. The centre works to preserve traditional Eri silk weaving, a craft in which women make up about 70 per cent of the handloom workforce.
